Merrimack graduate Charlie Day (Class of 1998) stars on the hit TV show “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and was wearing a Merrimack lacrosse T-shirt in Thursday’s episode.

Day, who also starred in the comedy “Horrible Bosses,” actually played baseball at Merrimack.

Yes, this isn’t a local game but everyone should want to drive to Foxboro today to see the East Division 1A championship game at 1:30 p.m. against the two best teams in the state, No. 1 Barnstable and No. 2 Everett.

Barnstable pulled off an upset Sept. 28, beating the Crimson Tide 13-7 in double overtime in Everett.

At the time, Everett was ranked No. 1 and Barnstable was No. 2.

This should be a fun one.

Everyone thinks it will be fairly easy for the Patriots to clinch the AFC East tomorrow. After all, the Pats only have to win against the 5-6 Miami Dolphins.

But winning against the Dolphins in Miami hasn’t been an easy task for the Patriots.

The Patriots have never won a December regular season game at Miami during Bill Belichick’s time as head coach.

The Pats are 0-3, having suffered losses at Miami in December 2004, December 2006 and December 2009.

Baltimore star linebacker Ray Lewis (torn triceps) is expected back from his injury Dec. 16 when the Ravens play the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN.com.

The goalkeeper for Southern New Hampshire University men’s soccer is named Dom DiMaggio.

Actually, his father’s name is Joe DiMaggio. Yes, really. I’m not joking around here. The family is from Rome, N.Y.

The Red Sox obviously had a player named Dom DiMaggio, the brother of Yankees legend and Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio.

Dom DiMaggio, the baseball player, was a center fielder who played 11 seasons in the majors, all for the Boston Red Sox. He batted .298 with a .383 on-base percentage for his career.

With free agent Russell Martin leaving the Yankees to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York is in the market for a new catcher.

The Yankees, therefore, might pursue free agent Mike Napoli, who is one of the Boston Red Sox’ top targets.

Free agent A.J. Pierzynski, won a Silver Slugger this past year, is another option for New York.

No. 2 Alabama football and No. 3 Georgia play for the SEC title at 4 p.m. on CBS. The winner most likely will play Notre Dame in the BCS championship game.

The Boston Celtics play the Milwaukee Bucks today at 8:30 p.m. on CSNNE (channel 52).

I think it’s wrong for basketball commissioner David Stern to sanction the San Antonio Spurs, whose coach Gregg Popovich who did not play his three big stars Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in a nationally televised game against the Miami Heat.

Popovich’s team, which is getting up there in age, had just played its past five straight games on the road over a span of eight days.

Popovich was only doing what is best for his team to succeed late in the season and in the playoffs.

Yes, the Miami Heat fans get a bad break by missing Duncan and Co. But don’t you also have to think about Spurs fans, who want to see their team go deep into the playoffs?
