---- — After a strong freshman year, Kaylee Pacunas didn’t compete for the Pinkerton gymnastics team last year as a sophomore because her club team’s schedule conflicted with Pinkerton’s.
But she is back this year and back in a big way. She won the all-around (35.5) as Pinkerton took first with 139.5 points, better than any score it had in any meet last year.
All other teams had their athletes compete just individually so there were no other teams that placed.
Pinkerton freshman Samantha Day won the vault (9.05).
St. John’s Prep boys basketball improved to 2-0 with a 64-46 win over Lynn Classical on Saturday. North Andover’s Max Burt, a junior, led the Eagles with 17 points. Prep senior Tyler Dooley, also of North Andover, chipped in with 11 and Atkinson’s Ben Judson, a sophomore, added nine.
Pentucket’s Marissa Porter finished second in the 600 (1:44.38) at the MSTCA Winter Festival track meet at the Reggie Lewis Center yesterday to qualify for the CAL meet and States.
Amari Spears netted nine points but PMA girls basketball couldn’t do much else offensively in a 49-17 loss to Notre Dame of Tyngsboro.
