Schimpf belts Fisher Cats to victory

---- — Ryan Schimpf drilled a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning and relievers Scott Gracey and Alan Farina combined for four scoreless innings to lift New Hampshire 6-5 over Binghamton 6-5 last night.

A.J. Jimenez homered for the first time this year in the first inning.

New Hampshire starter Deck McGuire hurled 5.0 innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out six.

The Fisher Cats and Mets meet again today at 7:05 p.m. New Hampshire RHP Ryan Tepera (6-5, 4.25) will start against Binghamton RHP Noah Syndergaard (1-0, 2.45).

Lin’s a hit but Lowell loses to Tri-City

Tzu-Wei Lin went 2 for 4 with a triple, walk and two runs but the Spinners lost 5-4 to Tri-City.

Aaron King added three hits and run for Lowell while Cleuluis Rondon had two hits and two RBIs.

The Spinners look to earn a series win when Mario Alcantara (2-1, 4.50) takes the hill for a 7 p.m. start today.
