Methuen native Jason Larocque named principal of new middle school at St. John's Prep

Former Central Catholic baseball star and later a captain at Harvard University baseball, Jason Larocque, has been named Associate Principal for the new St. John's Prep Middle School (grades 6-8), set to open its doors in September of 2014.

The announcement was made by St. John's Prep Principal Keith A. Crowley, PhD. after the school announced plans in April to open a middle school for boys on the school's campus in Danvers.

Larocque, an experienced middle school teacher and administrator, will work with the school leadership team to develop and design the middle school curriculum and programs. When the middle school opens in September 2015, he will oversee daily academic and co-curricular life for grades six, seven and eight.

"Jason knows how to engage middle school boys, and he shares our commitment to providing the best possible educational experience for every student. I look forward to collaborating with him as we prepare to extend the Prep experience and the tradition of Xaverian education to a new generation of students," said Dr. Crowley.

Larocque comes to St. John's from St. Albans School, an independent school for boys in grades 4 through 12 in Washington, DC, where he served as a teacher, dean of students, and head varsity baseball coach.

Larocque was the Red Sox bullpen catcher for two years in 2005 and 2006.
