Unsung Brown erupts, Andover topples Knights

NORTH ANDOVER — Ben Brown, who had been averaging three points a game, exploded for 19 and Andover shaded previously unbeaten North Andover 79-72 in the J.J. Donovan’s Fall Basketball League.

Brown was backed by David Giribaldi (17) and Max Silveira (16). Isaiah Nelsen of the Knights had the high scoring output of the day with 30 points.

Doug Gemmell scored 20 points, Joel Berroa 18 and Nick Cambio 16 as Central Catholic topped Methuen, 73-64. Freddy Santiago led the Rangers with 14 points.

Justin Reyes led all scorers with 24 points and Andrew Wells added 20 as Whittier tripped Westford 68-46. Nick Lynch had 10 points in defeat.

Jonathan Paulino (19 points) and Julius Martinez (17) carried Lawrence past Bishop Fenwick 83-45. Devin Graham led the Crusaders with 12 points.

Ben Judson of Plaistow hit for 17 points and St. John’s downed Salem 58-36. Andrew Ruffen had 14 points for the Blue Devils.

Medford rode 16 points from Billy Joseph to a 57-45 win over Pelham. Jake Vaiknoras had 14 for the Pythons.
