Fisher Cats bullpen blows four-run lead

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — Clint Robinson homered for the first time this season and drove in three runs but New Hampshire’s bullpen couldn’t hold onto a four-run lead. The Fisher Cats lost 7-6 to the New Britain Rock Cats yesterday.

New Hampshire (6-7) got RBI hits from Kevin Pillar and Ryan Schimpf as well as a two-run single from Robinson to take a 6-2 in the top of the seventh.

But the Rock Cats fought back with four runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh. Tommy Hottovy and Fernando Hernandez combined to allow the four runs. The inning was highlighted by Danny Ortiz’s two-run double.

The Fisher Cats stranded two runners in the top of the ninth. Joel Carreno (1-1) came on in the bottom of the ninth and allowed a leadoff single. The runner was sacrificed to second, took third on a grounder and scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch.

New Hampshire wraps up the road trip this morning at 10:35 a.m. RHP Tyson Brummett (0-1, 18.00) makes his second start against New Britain’s Pat Dean (0-1, 7.04).
