Kevin Nolan had three hits, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on the whole had all sorts of trouble with sizzling Red Sox prospect Miguel Pena. The 22-year-old went seven scoreless innings then watched as teammate Michael Almanzar tripled in a pair late, giving the Portland Sea Dogs a 4-2 win at Hadlock Field.
Ryan Schrimpf added a pair of hits for the Fisher Cats, who return home for the final four home games of the season, beginning Monday against the Sea Dogs.
Tonight, the Fisher Cats will be in Pennsylvania, facing the Reading Fightin’ Phils.
Spinners lose in 10
Kevin Mager, Forrest Allday and Manuel Margot each had two hits for the Lowell Spinners, who worked overtime but fell in 10 innings to Connecticut, 5-4.
Pat Leyland singled in the game-winner in the bottom of the 10th for the Tigers.
The teams meet again tonight in Connecticut, with first pitch at 7:05 p.m.
