Red Sox lose to Yankees on walkoff wild pitch

:Star of Game: Ichiro Suzuki was 2 for 5 with two runs. He singled to center with one out in the bottom of the ninth and scored the winning run on a wild pitch by Brandon Workman.

:Sox’ Top Star: Will Middlebrooks was 2 for 3 with a walk. One of his hits was a game-tying solo homer off Mariano Rivera in the top of the ninth inning.

:Lester’s Line: Red Sox starter Jon Lester went 8.0 innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on 10 hits and one walk while striking out six batters. His ERA dropped to 3.86.

:The Offense: In addition to Middlebrooks, Jonny Gomes, David Ortiz and Mike Carp all stroked two hits apiece. Both Ortiz’s hits were doubles, giving him 33 for the season. Jackie Bradley Jr. (1 for 2 with a walk) had Boston’s only other hit.
