His mother, Maura Shamon, recently surprised the Patriots fanatic with a trip to New York. The best part of it was she was able to get tickets to the NFL Draft.

Former Eagle-Tribune MVP Patrick Moulton of Pelham placed second over the weekend in the Cox Providence Marathon in 2:29.35. His wife, fellow ex-Providence standout Katie Twarog Moulton, won her marathon debut in 2:53.47.
Babcock’s son to Merrimack
The Eagle-Tribune’s Mike McMahon tweeted a couple of interesting hockey tidbits. One is forward Michael Babcock, the son of Red Wings coach Mike Babcock, committed to Merrimack. Also, former Bruin Shawn Bates is the new coach at his alma mater, Medford High.
Central Catholic coach Rick Nault reports Tyler Nelson has picked up recent offers from George Washington and Jacksonville to go with an offer from Bryant and the heavy recruitment by non-scholarship Dartmouth.
The Lowell Sun has reported that ex-Andover star Sean Ryan, now an assistant at Central Connecticut, is a candidate for the UMass Lowell basketball job. His father, Charlie, was a great coach at Lowell High.
North Andover winter and spring track quad-captain Carrie Manteiga, who’s ranked No. 1 in her class, will be attending Brown.
