Andrew Wells struck out 15 in a complete-game five-hitter and Jorge Martinez drove in both runs as Whittier shaded Shawsheen 2-1. The Cats clinched a share of the CAC Upper title and can win it outright by beating Greater Lowell next Thursday.

100 and counting

Destiny Jordan went 3 for 4 and stroked the 100th hit of her varsity softball career, but Whittier lost 14-8 to Everett.

Close call

Allie Collins tripled in two runs and then scored the game-winner as Timberlane held off winless Keene 5-4.

Keeping hope alive

Methuen (7-9) upset Haverhill 3-1 to keep its tourney hopes alive. Corey Bell had nine blocks and Patrick Hambleton 18 service points.

Faceoff machine

Kevin DeAngelo won 20 of 23 faceoffs to lead Pelham boys lacrosse 16-7 over Milford.

A Wesolowski win

Long-stick midfielder Josh Wesolowski played the entire game, leading the transition in Pentucket’s 7-6 double-overtime victory over Triton. Wesolowski led in ground balls and Ben Smith added 12 saves.

Deep thoughts

Manny Rosario, Javie Franjul and Oscar Reynoso all homered and Reynoso pitched a complete-game five hitter with 10 strikeouts and no walks as Greater Lawrence beat North Shore 14-4.

Mello and a reserve shine

Michaela Mello and Danielle Cosgrove, a reserve, led North Andover in both ground balls and caused turnovers in a 13-11 win over Billerica.

Terrific Trovato

Jeff Trovato scored six goals and David Goodnough was a star on defense as Windham dumped Trinity, 9-5.

Under control

R.J. Warnock pitched a three-hitter, struck out seven and walked nobody in North Reading’s 3-1 victory over Newburyport. The one run he surrendered was unearned. He has given up just six walks all season.
