---- — This was a strong class locally in girls volleyball and nobody knows that better than Dan Young.

His Latitude club team helped nurture much of the talent. He coached several of them and coached against numerous others when he was at Salem High. Now, as head coach at St. Anselm, he knows getting some of the cream of the crop from the region can pay big dividends for his program.

He landed one of the best in Micaela Donatio, a six-footer from North Andover.

“We are excited to welcome Micaela Donatio to Saint Anselm next fall,” he said. “Micaela has a huge up side as both her height and work ethic will allow her to continue to grow at a collegiate level.”

Other local standouts from the Class of 2013 planning to play in the fall are: Timberlane’s Michaela Taffe and Salem’s Bri Wojtas and Rachel Morrissey at Plymouth State; North Andover’s Kayleee Lambrinos at Springfield, Andover’s Liz Wait at Roger Williams, Pinkerton’s Tyla Mahon and Andover’s Becky Hoffman at Southern N.H., Salem’s Kelsey Card at St. Lawrence, Andover’s Lauren Gibson at Union, Pinkerton’s Brenna McNally at Otterbein, Andover’s Marcela Familiar-Bolanos at Skidmore, Central Catholic’s Michelle Bouchard at Catholic University and Haverhill’s Alex Itasaka at Simmons.
