(Continued)

Top of the class

Senior field hockey co-captain Courtney Lynch of North Andover won the John D. Galaris Scholar-Athlete Award for the top female scholar-athlete at Salem State. Lynch, a four-year starter majoring in education, graduated with a 3.76 grade point average.

Record-setter

Victoria Castiglione, a sophomore literature major at Bard College, repeated on the Liberty League Track All-Academic team and set records in three events for the program, which is now in its fourth year.

Lone Wolfie

UNH senior Chris Dupuis from Plaistow won the hammer throw (172-2) and placed fourth in the shot put (48-11.5) at the Wolfie Invitational.

Fabulous freshman

George Washington freshman Olivia Boudreau of North Andover was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team. She appeared in all but one contest for the 9-8 Colonials and made eight starts. She tallied 15 goals, 7 assists. 17 ground balls and 5 draw controls. Her goal with 1:52 remaining beat Richmond 11-10.

Wizard of Wheelock

Wheelock freshman midfielder Kaitlyn Donnelly of Atkinson was named first-team All-New England Collegiate Conference. In 14 games, she scooped up a school-record 57 ground balls, and tied a school record with 30 caused turnovers. Donnelly, who also plays soccer for the Wildcats, had five goals and five assists this spring.

Ram tough

Sophomore Melissa Higgins of Windham was on the Fordham 4x800 team which won the IC4A title in an impressive 8:46.25, slicing 1.81 seconds off their own school mark.

Always in control

Freshman midfielder Caitlyn Whearty of Hampstead led Colby-Sawyer in draw controls (48 in 16 games) while also adding 20 goals, 5 assists and 18 caused turnovers. The Dean’s List student was conference rookie of the week the week of April 10.

Fabulous finish

Senior Elizabeth Habib of Methuen and Central Catholic went 9-9 this spring while the rest of the AIC pitchers were a combined 5-18. She went 4-0 in her last week to earn AIC Athlete of the Week honors.

Her 343 strikeouts in 375 innings rank her No. 5 in the program’s 45-year history. An education major with a 3.7 GPA, Habib is just as accomplished in the classroom.
