Victorino steals the show

Star of the Game: Shane Victorino was 3 for 3 with a walk, hit by pitch, two homers (the 100th and 101st of his career), a career-high seven RBIs and four runs.

AL East Race: Tampa lost so the Red Sox have a 2.5 game lead over the Rays, 6.5 over the O’s and 7.5 over the Yankees.

Doubront’s Line: Felix Doubront went 6.2 innings, allowing two runs, both earned, on four hits and one walk while striking out seven. He improved to 10-6 with a 3.74 ERA.

Big Three: The top three hitters in the order, Jacoby Ellsbury, Victorino and Dustin Pedroia, each stroked three hits. Pedroia had two doubles and Ellsbury and Victorino each had one.

Welcome Back: Mike Napoli homered to left to lead off the fourth inning. Since his return to the starting lineup Saturday, he is 6 for 13 with two homers, five RBIs and four runs.

Buchholz Update: Ace Clay Buchholz will make his second rehab start Friday for either Pawtucket or Portland. He will be in the 55-pitch range.

Sox Trade: The Red Sox acquired outfielder Quintin Berry from Kansas City in exchange for RHP Clayton Mortensen. Berry stole 21 bases for the Tigers last year and will be used mainly as a pinch runner in September.
