Ortiz breaks 0-for-23 streak in Red Sox win

:Star of the Game: David Ortiz snapped an 0-for-23 streak with a two-run single in fourth. He was 1 for 2 with two walks and two RBIs.

Second Star: Shane Victorino went 2 for 4 with a walk, RBI and two runs. He is batting .477 with 10 extra-base hits and eight multi-hit games in his past 12 contests.

Uehara’s Dominance: Koji Uehara recorded a four-out save, striking out two and not allowing a baserunner. He became the fourth pitcher in team history to record 20 consecutive scoreless outings (Uehara, Daniel Bard, Jonathan Papelbon, Ugueth Urbina).

Buchholz Update: Clay Buchholz made his second rehab start for Pawtucket yesterday. He allowed one run and seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Dempster’s Line: Ryan Dempster earned his seventh win. He went 6.1 innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits and three walks while striking out five.

80 Victories: The Red Sox improved to 80-56. They have won eight of their past 12 games. Sox pitchers have given up three runs or fewer in 10 straight games for first time since an 11-game stretch in 1988.
