'I Beat Burt' Contest kicks off this week

The “I Beat Burt” Contest is back and running as we enter Week 2 of the NFL season. It is sponsored by Optimum Sportswear of Lawrence, which has been printing T-shirts for this contest for the last decade.

The object is to pick more winners than Eagle-Tribune executive sports editor Bill Burt. Each week a maximum of 10 T-shirts are awarded. The first tiebreaker is the amount of points the Patriots scored (this week it will be Denver because Pats play Thursday night). The second tiebreaker is number of correct selections. The last tiebreaker is random draw.

The contest is easy to play. You can get the entry blank out of the Eagle-Tribune sports sections on Wednesdays and Thursdays, filling it out and mailing it in. Or, you can go to eagletribune.com/beat burt and fill it out on-line.

There are a few rules: Only one entry per person.

Family members of the North of Boston Media Group are not eligible. Entries mailed to The Eagle-Tribune must be received by Saturday.

On-line entries are accepted until midnight Saturday night. Bill Burt’s picks will be in Sunday’s Eagle-Tribune.

If there are games on Saturday, they will be in Saturday’s paper as well.

Enjoy the season!
