Andy Segura scored twice and added an assist as Haverhill won 3-1 over Lawrence in boys soccer. Evan Penney made six saves for Haverhill and Carlos Diego scored the Lancers’ goal.
First-year varsity player Chris Cavanaugh, a sophomore, scored his first goal as Central Catholic won 1-0 over Tewksbury in boys soccer.
Cavanaugh’s goal came with about 15 minutes remaining in the contest and was assisted by Griffin Holland.
New position, no problem
After playing outside hitter last year, Shari Juranovits is adjusting quite well to her new position at middle hitter. She had nine kills and six blocks in Salem’s 3-1 victory over Winnacunnet.
Ashley Matthews added 15 kills and 26 service points, 14 of which went for aces. Meanwhile, Rachel Towler recorded a remarkable 55 assists.
Pelham gets first win
Jessica Coakley scored twice as Pelham girls soccer routed Conant 6-0 to pick up its first win of the season.
Reggies roll by Chelsea
The Greater Lawrence girls volleyball team beat Chelsea 3-0. Erica Roque led the team offensively with 18 kills, and Ivonne Ruiz had 16 digs.
First varsity goal
Junior Maddy Joanis scored her first varsity goal and Courtney Sweeny added two goals and an assist as Windham field hockey rolled 3-0 St. Thomas Aquinas.
Taylor Casale made her first ever varsity start for North Andover girls soccer, and she made the most of it. Casale scored her first varsity goal in the second half to lead the Knights 1-0 over Billerica. Megan Collins had eight saves for North Andover.
Down 3-0 at halftime, Whittier boys soccer didn’t quit. Jacob Fudge scored twice and Luis Cortes and John Manning also netted goals as the Wildcats posted a 4-3 comeback victory over North Shore. Fudge tied the game with about 10 minutes remaining and Manning scored the winner about 5 minutes later.
