Davis warns not to jump off bandwagon

BOSTON — The talk from now until the playoffs is: are the Celtics headed in the right direction or deluding themselves?

Ray Allen said, "In 2008, I'd hear comments how we only beat Charlotte by two points.''

Of course, fans were spoiled then, so it was margin of victory that was a concern, not losing streaks and being stunned by historically bad teams like the Nets.

Allen said there is not necessarily a reason to panic.

"I don't think there is a blueprint for success,'' he said. "It happens in many different ways.''

Glen Davis, too, before last night's 109-97 laugher over the Knicks, said people are losing confidence too quickly.

"We've got to go full throttle,'' said Davis, who has given the club a big lift with his non-stop hustle of late. "There is no concern. No panic. This team won two years ago. We feel we can do it. There is no concern. When it is time to go, it's time to go. People feel the way they feel. They are panicking, but they don't play. We know what it takes.''

Irish eyes are smiling

Perhaps they all aren't actually Irish, but the C's and Knicks have

some fine Irish names with David Lee, Tracy McGrady, Eddy Curry, Al Harrington and Paul Pierce.

We're No. 66!

With UConn relegated to the JV NIT Tourney, Ray Allen said, "I'd take an NIT championship over a first-round NCAA loss. It's a banner."

Skittles and bits

Ray Allen is still friendly with the former Celtics dealt to the Knicks. J.R. Giddens used to cover him in practice and Allen tried to be a mentor.

"Keep eating those Skittles and it will be hard chasing me around those screens,'' joked Allen prior to the game to his young former teammate Giddens.

Old friend update

Eddie House sat out with a sore right Achilles', Bill Walker had 8 points in 23 minutes and J.R. Giddens had four points in 13 minutes.
