Around the Horn with Framingham State football's Aaron Ferreira

(Continued)

Is this the end of your football career? “I got invited to a Senior Bowl game in Virginia. I think it’s Dec. 13. I want to give it one last shot. Other than that, I think my football days are over.”

My football days are over. Do those words hurt? “It’s tough. It’s tough to swallow. The last four years went by pretty fast. I wish I could go back. I would do some things differently.”

Like what? “I’d train a little harder.”

Do you ever wish you went to a higher level football school? “No. I loved Framingham. I wouldn’t change anything.”

What was it like blocking for Melikke Van Alstyne? “It was great. You were never wrong no matter what you did. I hope he has a football career ahead of him.”

In your playoff game, you led 17-3 late in the third quarter and lost. What happened? “In the first half, we were beating them pretty good. I think in four possessions we scored three times. In the second half it started snowing. It’s hard to think about right now. They came out to play in the second half and we weren’t ready for it.”

How big are you? “6-foot-2, 270.”

What was the key to you having such a fine career? “I just love to play football.”

How did you decide on Framingham State? “Out of high school, I wasn’t getting recruited by many teams. Framingham called me and asked if I wanted to come down and see the school. I got good vibes.”

Did you family and friends attend your games? “My parents (Paul Ferreira and Mary Fonseca) would come to all the games.”

Do you work? “I have an on-campus job with the grounds crew.”

What’s your football background? “I played one year when I was younger with Lawrence. I was 11 on the A team and they were 14 or 15. Then I was too heavy and I had had it. Then in high school, I wanted to give it a shot. I had gone to Holy Trinity in Lawrence so I didn’t know anybody. I decided to play a sport to make some friends.”
