Beat Burt winners announced for Weeks 12 and 13

10 extra T-shirts awarded for Week 13

The “I Beat Burt” contest is heading down the homestretch with only three more weeks after this weekend.

After executive sports editor Bill Burt went a perfect 13-0 in Week 11, he came back to earth a bit getting nine correct selections out of 13 for Week 12 and then getting only eight right versus seven wrong in Week 13.

In Week 12, which was one of the tougher weeks, only 16 entries picked more winners than Burt’s nine. The tiebreaker was the Green Bay Packers point total (Patriots played on Thanksgiving), which was 10 points.

Because entry blanks in the actual newspaper and on the web (www.eagletribune.com/beatburt) had a different tiebreaker, we are awarding 20 T-shirts for Week 13. The newspaper had the Patriots as the tiebreaker and the online version had the Packers. Coincidentally, both teams scored 23 points last week.

For Week 13, there 81 entries that picked more winners than Burt’s eight. All of the online winners were within four points of the Packers point total. In the newspaper version, all three tiebreakers were needed as all of the winners were within eight points. The second tiebreaker (correct selections) and third tiebreaker (random draw) were used.

Here are the T-shirt winners:
