Coach: Mark Dennehy (5th year, 33-89-17)

Returning leaders: Chris Barton (9-14—23), Jesse Todd (7-16—23), Joe Cannata (2.35 goals-against average, .918 save percentage)

Captains: Pat Bowen, senior; Chris Barton, junior; Adam Ross (assistant), junior

Assistant coaches: Phil Roy (2nd season), Glenn Stewart (first season), Chris Rogles (first season)

Coaches poll: Merrimack was picked to finish last for a sixth straight season. The Warriors avoided the Hockey East basement last season, finishing ninth ahead of Providence. The last time the Warriors made the Hockey East playoffs was the 2003-04 season, when the Warriors finished seventh overall and lost to Maine in the first round. The 2004-05 season, the last under former head coach Chris Serino, snapped a streak of nine straight years in which the Warriors made the postseason.

GEORGETOWN — The competitor in Tyler Wade says he's just not going out like this.
After suffering through some tough abandonments by members of his senior class in both football and hoops, Wade has endured through two extremely tough seasons — 1-9 on the gridiron and currently 6-12 on the hardwood.

He's our Valentine

BOSTON — Happy Valentine's Day, Red Sox fans.
The "Valentine" I'm referring to, of course, is the one now based out of Yawkey Way in The Fens — Bobby Valentine. And he is only hours away from finally putting on that Red Sox uniform in the balmy Florida sun.
