Final Score

Senior solo

Trevor Glines was the lone honoree for youthful Fellowship Christian Academy on "Senior Day." Glines netted a goal and an assist in the Rams' 9-2 loss to Shawsheen Tech.

Raider revelry

Central Catholic assured itself of at least a .500 season, polishing off Billerica, 101-80. Chelsea Nolan excelled for the 6-5 Raiders, snagging victories in the 200 and 500 free, while adding a sharp leg on the victorious 400 free relay team.

One final step to take

The Andover field hockey team crept to within one step of an undefeated regular season by dropping Haverhill, 5-0. Sarah Oteri scored twice and chipped in a pair of assists for the 16-0-1 Warriors, who finish up with Lawrence Thursday night.

Knights on top

In a game that decided the CAL field hockey championship, North Andover (14-1-3) downed Wilmington (12-2-4) 4-1 behind three goals from the Knights' three senior captains. Candace Waldie, Sarah Warden and Meg Twomey all scored in the first half to give North Andover a lead it would never relinquish. Krysta Perryman added a second-half tally and Steph Twomey made three saves in net.

Lively Snively

Shannon Snively was a force on defense as Sanborn girls soccer blitzed Hillsboro-Deering, 3-0, in Class M opening-round tourney action. Abby Smith scored twice and Angela Zukas also scored.

Miraculous Monica

Monica Lewis served for a stunning 17 straight points in Game 1 to power Whittier to a 3-0 win over Northeast.

Hornet history

North Reading field hockey, which had only scored three goals all season, scored three yesterday in a 3-1 win over Hamilton-Wenham. It was the Hornets' second win, setting a new record for the 7-year-old varsity program. Kaycee Janinno, Melissa Psallidas and Jen Bash scored.

Chase is on

Top-seeded Salem dumped No. 16 Alvirne, 1-0, in its Class L soccer opener. Cassie Chase had the game's lone goal. The score was close but the Broncos had few strong scoring opportunities as Hanna LaRochelle, McKenzie Miller and Avery Neusch dominated defensively. Sarah Snyder (1 save) posted another shutout.

Hail to the Hillies

Methuen's Katie Oskar dominated the diving, readying herself for the postseason with a 208.65 score, but Haverhill dominated just about everything else in a 99-79 win.

Erin McGuigan (500 freestyle) and Sarah Broderick (50 free) posted nifty wins for the Hillies.

Night of volleyball

The MVC will host its annual Sam Colangelo Volleyball Classic on Tuesday at Chelmsford High.

Methuen will take on Dracut at 5:30 while Haverhill battles Lowell at the same time on a different court. At 7 p.m., Central Catholic collides with Billerica and Lawrence and Andover will play.

After the game, the league's Coaches and Players of the Year will be honored.
