LOWELL — The Lowell Devils scored three power play goals in a 5-3 win over Manchester yesterday.
The win was Lowell's fifth straight at home and lifted the Devils into a first-place tie with the Monarchs.
Trailing 3-2, Vladimir Zharkov swept in to poke in a rebound on the power play with 7.7 seconds left in the second period.
The Devils picked up in the third period where they left off with a 5-on-4 goal from Ben Walter at 1:04. The Devils limited the Monarchs to just three shots in the final frame, while Nathan Perkovich provided the insurance marker with 3:52 left.
Jeff Frazee needed only 17 saves to pick up his fourth win of the season.
The two teams scored early and often in the first period as they combined for three tallies in 1:56.
The Devils finish their three-game homestand on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against the Hartford Wolf Pack.
