FOXBOROUGH (AP) — The New England Patriots are preparing for football without Wes Welker.
They held their first practice Tuesday for Sunday's playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Welker was absent after suffering a serious injury to his left knee in last Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Houston Texans.
Welker underwent an MRI on the knee on Monday. On Tuesday, the club declined to comment on the results and several players were reluctant to discuss Welker. Earlier in the day, Belichick responded to several questions about the NFL leader in receptions by saying his focus had shifted to the upcoming game.
Cornerback Shawn Springs said he hadn't talked with Welker but that he'd probably visit him at his house Tuesday night.
