Miracle finish
With Pinkerton trailing by a goal and 28 seconds left in the game, the Astros' Andrew Stefanelli took a pass at the point and blasted it home for a goal to tie them game. Then, 14 seconds later, Pinkerton won a draw in its zone and banked it down ice where Cam Romano picked it up and scored the winner to give the Astros a 4-3 victory over St. Thomas.
Two for the money
Jared McAdam and Mike Lussier each scored two goals as Methuen continued its hot start with a 4-2 win over Dracut.
Surrette's best
Rachel Surrette sliced four-tenths of a second off her personal best to win the hurdles in 8.0 seconds and help Haverhill top Dracut, 51-35. Freshman Erin Connolly cruised in the 300 (41.8).
Double trouble
Jessica Goulet notched a double-double as Whittier remained unbeaten, disposing of Assabet Valley 55-46 in overtime. Goulet finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Jumping into the record books
Armando Bucciarelli matched the school record in the high jump with a 6-5, and added a victory in the 50 hurdles as Central Catholic bested Chelmsford 63-18. Gio Frias set the high jump mark in 2008.
Hats off
Sarah Oteri notched five points for Andover, including her second hat trick of the season, in a 7-2 pounding of Wayland.
Owls withstand challenge
Salem gave unbeaten Timberlane a brief challenge, trailing just 15-13 at one point. Wins by Luke Morrier at 130 and Andrew Tanner at 140, however, turned the tide in a 47-16 win. Morrier handled Salem standout Devin Dearden 11-6 and Tanner went up a weight class to beat Zach Hicks, 4-2 in overtime.
