Music and football
Snoop Dogg’s son, 6-2, 180-pound sophomore wide receiver Cordell Broadus, has been offered by most of the Pac-12 including USC.
Maybe someday he’ll be covered by Justin Combs, a redshirt freshman defensive back at UCLA. His father is rapper Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs. Jon Bon Jovi’s son, Jesse Bongiovi, will be walking on at Notre Dame.
Haverhill’s Noah Vonleh, who won’t turn 18 until late August, is apparently still growing. At the Nike Hoop Summit, he measured 6-9.75 (in shoes), 242 lbs., with an 8-10 reach and a freakish 7-4 wingspan.
He had three teammates 6-9, 6-9 and 6-11 and they averaged a 7-0 wingspan.
Area N.H. boys volleyball teams all gained an easy win. Oyster River didn’t have enough players and pulled the plug on the season. All its games were ruled forfeits.
A notoriously prickly coach was calling in a game between two area teams that had an outrageously difficult Lithuanian name, an outrageously difficult Greek name and an outrageously difficult other name. It’s like they were Smith, he didn’t bother spelling out any of the 15-letter names.
Then he got to the easiest name of the 20 and he spelled it out: S-t-a-n-t-o-n.
And they wonder why sportswriters are crazy.
Congrats to local Eagle-Tribune All-Stars Derek Collins of North Andover (Roger Williams) and Andover Super Teamer Sam Dowden (Brandeis), who have announced where they will be playing their college ball.
Coppeta into hall
