Silberman is a 6-foot-5, 303-pound offensive lineman who appeared in eight games, including four starts, this past season for the Gators.

King picked for Hall

Central Catholic’s Dennis King is one of six coaches who will join the Massachusetts Interscholastic Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony for the new inductees will be held prior to the All-State finals March 1.

King is in his 24th year as Central’s coach and entered the season with a sparkling 365-113-6 record. He has coached several of the area’s premier individuals including three-time New England champion Joe Fendone and, most recent, Ryan O’Boyle.

Carleo in lead

In the first listing of leaders among New England indoor track and field athletes, Newburyport junior Nick Carleo is tied for first in the mile with a 4:15. In addition, St. John’s Prep’s Evan Dombrowski leads all shot putters with a heave of 57-6 3/4.

‘Prep’ race Sunday

One of the toughest and yet most popular road races will be coming up Sunday in Derry with the Boston Prep 16-Miler. The course features some grueling hills that are steeper than any on the actual Boston Marathon course.
