BASEBALL

The Greater Lawrence Baseball Umpires Association certification for new baseball umpires begins Jan. 27. Contact Fred Simm at 978-807-7103 or fredsimm@comcast.net or visit greaterlawrenceumpires.com. New candidates must be 16 years of age.

Riverside Bradford Youth Baseball is offering two 8-week winter workout programs at Play Ball for Riverside-Bradford players for ages 5-13. One will be held Sundays in Salem, N.H., from 11-12:30 and the other on Saturdays at Salisbury from 3-4:30. Both cost $40. Riverside Bradford Youth Baseball is offering an 5-week winter workout program at Batter Up in Methuen for Riverside-Bradford players age 7-12. The program will be held Mondays from 5-6 p.m. (fielding) and 6-7 p.m. (Hitting), beginning on Feb. 24. The cost is $40 per session. To register, please contact Batter Up at 978-258-0308.

Haverhill Senior Baseball is accepting applications for the 2014 season. There will be signups at the Haverhill Publc Library Jan. 25 and March 1 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. or go to haverhillseniorbaseball.com for an application. The spring season runs from mid-April thru the end of May and the summer season is from early June thru early August. Anyone living in the Haverhill area between the ages of 13 to 15 is eligible to sign up. BASKETBALL

The NHIAA’s Hoops for Hunger program will run Jan. 17-25. People are asked to contribute non-perishable items at their school’s varsity basketball games.

Track

The North Andover Youth Track and Field program will once again run on Sundays and Tuesdays from late April until early June. Meets will be announced as they are scheduled.
