Central Catholic basketball-volleyball star Amanda Williams has committed to play volleyball at St. Anselm’s, where she will join freshman Micaela Donatio from North Andover High. It couldn’t have hurt that St. A’s coach Dan Young of Salem is close friends with Central coach Gannon Paris. Williams has been brilliant this winter and very well could be a basketball All-Scholastic.
Pinkerton Academy hockey/lacrosse star Bailey Walsh will be continuing his lacrosse career at St. Lawrence University. Walsh, who leads the hockey team with seven goals, is a transfer from Holderness.
CSNNE sportscaster Kevin Walsh made Academic All-Big 10 as a golfer at Purdue.
Pinkerton sophomore cheerleader Emily Dellisola will be singing the national anthem Tuesday when the Bruins host the Panthers.

Ex-Patriot tight end Marv Cook has led Regina High to four straight Iowa 1A state titles and has won 56 straight games, tied for the national lead. His son, junior Drew Cook, is the star 6-4 quarterback. Drew Bledsoe fans will tell you this wasn’t the first time Marv has had success with a QB named Drew.
Rutgers freshman April Baker of Andover was named the East Atlantic Gymnastics League Rookie of the Week. In her college debut against UNH, Baker tied for first on the vault and took a second on the floor, scoring 9.825 in each.
Hard to believe but the Dobbins Tech high school team in Philadelphia produced three of the top 10 college scorers in the 1989-90 season: 1. Bo Kimble, Loyola-Marymount, 35.3 ppg; 6. Hank Gathers, Loyola-Marymount, 29.0; 10. Mark Stevenson, Duquesne, 27.2.
Fox 25 News in Boston anchor Shannon Mulaire has an athletic background. She was first-team all-conference for Wellesley College soccer in 2002 and also starred for the school’s lacrosse team. Her husband is ESPN’s Randy Scott.
