Kevin Pillar singled with the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the 12th inning but Reading bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the inning to beat New Hampshire, 2-1, yesterday.
Sebastian Valle walked with the bases loaded to tie the game and Miguel Abreu was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run for Reading (12-10).
In the top of the 12th inning, the road-warrior Fisher Cats (11-13) loaded the bases on singles by Kevin Ahrens, Jack Murphy and Amadeo Zazueta. Pillar singled scoring Ahrens but Murphy was thrown out at the plate trying to score.
Tyson Brummett started for New Hampshire, allowing two hits over six innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six. Chorye Spoone added three innings of hitless relief with five strikeouts. Joel Carreno added two perfect innings with three strikeouts.
The Fisher Cats return to action on Monday at 7:05 p.m. in Trenton. They next return home on Friday night when they host Reading at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
