Hard-luck loser Patrick Slack doubled in the tying run in the top of the seventh but Masconomet earned the 3-2 win over Georgetown with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. Mike Goddu was taken to the hospital after being hit in the face with a ball. Coach Justin Spurr said, “He’ll be OK.”

Rare shutout

Erik Kenison (2 saves), Chris Gersh (4) and Tom Newman (2) led Londonderry in a rare lacrosse shutout. The Lancers rolled 8-0 over Manchester Central.

Raider upset

Central Catholic upset Andover 3-1 as hustling Brian Adamopoulos contributed 18 digs and Jacob Francis had 34 assists and 14 service points.

Nine is fine

Abby Galloway-Burke had nine goals and eight draw controls to lead Methuen lacrosse 23-11 over Dracut.

A nail-biter

It came down to No. 2 doubles and Will LeRette and Nick Dobrosielski prevailed 7-6, 6-3 to lead Central Catholic 3-2 over Methuen.

Singles sweep

Karmen Chau (No. 1 singles), Tami Nguyen (No. 2) and Lina Nguyen (No. 3) all won their singles matches as Methuen downed Central Catholic 3-2.

Four-event winner

Hector Payano won the long jump (19-3), triple jump (38-11), 100 (10.9) and 200 (22.8) to lead Greater Lawrence 72-63 over Shawsheen in boys track.

Saving the day

Ryan Blatti made a huge fourth-quarter save to keep Central Catholic ahead in a 6-5 win over Haverhill in boys lacrosse. Zach Grundy had another big game with 18 saves for the Hillies.
