Warrior baseballers lock down playoff spot in win

The Eagle-Tribune

---- — Sophomore Joe Carnevale stepped up big in a must-win spot, firing seven innings of shutout ball as the Merrimack College baseball team stopped Stonehill, 9-1, in the regular season Northeast-10 finale.

With the win, Merrimack, at 26-17 and 12-9 in the league, locks down the final playoff spot in the upcoming NE-10 playoffs at Franklin Pierce Tuesday night.

The Warrior win pushed UMass Lowell out of the playoffs despite a gallant Riverhawks’ sweep of Bentley this weekend.

Casey Cotter and Frank Crinella each had three hits and scored three runs for the Warriors, who benefitted from four Stonehill errors in the win.
