Breslin, Astros hold off Methuen

NORTH ANDOVER — Lowell and Pinkerton rebounded from opening-game losses in the Greater Lawrence Christmas tournament with a pair of consolation round victories last night.

Lowell jumped to a 15-point first-quarter lead before running past Lawrence 63-31 while Pinkerton held off Methuen 46-43.

Freshman Alexi Schecter paced Lowell with 25 points, including 11 of 14 from the line while Genesis Santana scored a team-high eight for Lawrence.

Pinkerton received 11 points from Sam Breslin and 10 from Melissa Martel. Methuen had three players in double figures: Amanda Petrow (13), Madison Carroll (10) and Abby Galloway-Burke (10).
