Walshes headed to states

Liam Walsh and Aidan Walsh both earned state qualifying times in North Andover loss to Chelmsford. Liam Walsh made the cut in the 200 freestyle, swimming it in 2:14.81, good for second place. Aidan Walsh qualified in the 200 IM with a 2:11.37, which was good for first place.

Four scoring

Londonderry boys basketball had four players in double figures in scoring. Max Coleman led the way with 15 points. Cody Ball had 13. Taylor Simpson netted 12 and Brendan Enwright added 11. Londonderry won 83-57 over Concord.

Knight girls stumble

Morgan Lumb had 19 points, but fresh of the Christmas Tournament stunner over Central Catholic, North Andover girls fumbled at Billerica, 67-55.

Double-double

Jackson Morton scored 22 points and added 12 rebounds to lead Sanborn boys basketball 72-56 over Hillsboro-Deering.

Jameson erupts for Hillies

Matt Jameson scored a career-high 28 points, and Haverhill boys basketball earned its first win in Merrimack Valley Conference play this year, 78-52, at Tewksbury. Freshman Saul Phiri added 19, and Anthony Dionne chipped in 18 for the Hillies.

Perfect Hornets

North Reading boys basketball improved to 6-0 with Tommy Hogan (14), John Mastascusa (11), Chris Capozzoli (11) all reaching double digits in scoring. The Hornets rolled 57-44 over Hamilton-Wenham.

Dramatic win

With Greater Lawrence boys basketball down by two points to Greater Lowell, Cristian Rivera made a steal with 11 seconds left and passed ahead to Javier Franjul who was fouled while converting the game-tying layup.

Franjul then made his free throw to put the Reggies ahead 58-57. That was the final score as Greater Lowell missed a 3-pointer with time expiring.

Fabulous Frosh.

L.J. Figueroa, a 6-0 freshman, netted six 3-pointers and finished with 26 points to lead Notre Dame boys basketball 69-44 over North Shore.

Sidman sinks six 3s

Eighth grader Isaac Sidman poured in six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points but Fellowship boys basketball lost 68-40 to Minuteman.
