BASKETBALL

Central Catholic girls freshmen basketball won 28-16 over Tewksbury. Meray Crespo scored seven points while Amy Veloz netted six points.

New England Lady Panthers tryouts are Jan. 20 at the UMass Lowell Student Rec Center at 100 Pawtucket St. in Lowell. 4th-6th grade 1-2:15 p.m, 7th-8th grade 2:15-3:30 p.m., high school 3:30-5 p.m. Additional information is available at neladypanthers.org.

New England Storm boys AAU tryouts will be at the North Andover Youth Center. To reserve a spot, contact Josh Peters at fundamentalhoops@yahoo.com. Jan. 20 fifth grade from 6-7:30 p.m. and sixth grade 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 21 the seventh grade will be 6-7:30 p.m. and eighth grade 7:30-9 p.m. Jan. 27 fourth grade from 9-10:30 a.m. and ninth grade 6-7:45 p.m.

BASEBALL

The Play Ball Winter Workout Program in Salem is holding registration for local baseball players. The 10-week program starts Jan. 12. Ages 6-12, meet Saturdays from 9-10:30 a.m., ages 13-18 Sundays from 5:30-7 p.m Contact methuenbaseball@verizon.net or call 978-416-7273 for more information.

The Granite State Baseball League is looking for players and teams. Teams play 18 regular season games on Sundays starting in April, playoffs begin in August. There are currently 14 teams that compete in 28+ and 38+ Divisions. For more information visit gsbl.net.

Haverhill Senior Baseball is holding sign-ups for anyone in the Haverhill area on Jan. 19, Feb. 9, and March 2,9, & 16 at the Haverhill YMCA from 10 a.m. until noon. There will be a division for 13-year-olds and one for 14-15 year old.
