Schatzlein grabs 21 rebounds for Merrimack

---- — NORTH ANDOVER — Kelly Schatzlein had a monster game with 16 points, 21 rebounds, a career-high six blocks and four assists as Merrimack dumped New Haven 92-74.

In just 21 minutes, Jaclyn Lyons scored a career-high 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Chloe Rothman added 18 points.

The Warriors had a whopping 58 first half points en route to a 58-34 edge.

For the half, Merrimack shot 59.4 percent from the floor, forced 12 turnovers and turned those turnovers into 21 points.

Schatzlein, a 6-1 senior co-captain from Tolland, Conn., had a 22-rebound game last season.

Sophomore starting center Ashley LeBlanc of Methuen had eight points and six rebounds for New Haven, which dropped to 6-7. Freshman guard Lauren Hebert of North Reading added four points and three rebounds.

Merrimack (9-4, 5-4 NE-10) will host Le Moyne Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The men’s game will follow at 7:30 p.m.

Warriors can’t hold on to lead versus New Haven

NORTH ANDOVER — After falling behind by 13 points midway through the first half, Merrimack rallied to take the lead with 10 minutes to play.

But visiting New Haven pulled away in the closing minutes to take a 65-57 win.

Mike Clifford paced the Warriors with a 16-point, 13-rebound performance. Tyler Young was next in line with 10 points.

Jeffery Adkins tossed in a game-high 18 points for the Chargers, who won their seventh straight game after a slow start to the season.

Merrimack, which has lost two straight, dropped to 6-8, 3-6 NE-10. New Haven improved to 8-5, 5-4 NE-10.
