MANCHESTER — Nick Deslauriers and Andy Andreoff each had a goal and assist but the Manchester Monarchs lost 7-5 to Springfield.
Springfield left wing Jonathan Audy-Marchessault recorded a hat trick.
Manchester (17-17-2-2) is ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division.
The Falcons (21-9-3-3) are in first in the Northeast Division.
“We certainly got to learn how to defend better.” Monarch head coach Mark Morris said.
“We have to learn how to keep the puck out of the net. We’ve had a lot of work in the last week and a half trying to work on our D-core. There is a lot of disarray right now with so much movement going on in the organization so there is not a whole lot of continuity.”
Springfield gained the lead for good (6-5) at 11:26 of the third period with a power play goal by Audy-Marchessault.
Peter Mannino (9-5-0) made eight saves on 11 shots in the first period. Jean-Francois Berube (0-1-0) stopped 13 of 17 shots in relief of Mannino.
The Monarchs play the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
