The Final Score

Sachems earn huge win

Notre Dame of Hingham may have had enough to beat defending Division 1 state champion Andover nine days ago, but it wasn’t the case against reigning Division 3 champ Pentucket yesterday. Led by 12 points from McKenna Kilian, the Sachems downed Notre Dame 54-36 to remain perfect on the season (13-0).

Raiders hurdle to win

The team of Alex Dehullu, Jeremy Zannini, D’andre Drummond-Mayrie and Jack McInnis won the shuttle hurdles in 26.41, leading Central Catholic to a fourth-place finish at the Division 2 state relays. North Andover’s Ahamdi Ogwuru, Patrick Irwin and Wynn Bourassa won the high jump relay with a 17-5, as the Scarlet Knights took fifth as a team.

Knights 1st in Div. 2

North Andover earned victories in the shut put relay with a 101-0, besting No. 2 Central Catholic (89-1 1/2) as the Scarlet Knights placed first overall as a team at the Division 2 state relays with 29 points. Members of the winning relay were Courtney Green, Katie McManus and Alexandra Layne. Leading the Raiders was a second in the sprint medley relay in 4:22.08, run by Maggie Carey, Erin Dwinell, Taylor DePalo and Alexa Poulin.

Kimball runs 5:11 mile

Timberlane senior Hannah Kimball finished 5th in the girls mile championship race at the Yale Interscholastic Track Classic at Yale University, running a fine 5:11.57.

Andover girls shine

Andover’s girls shined at the East Coast Invitational in Providence. Cassie Kobelski came in second in the shot put with a 38-3 heave, Courtney Comeau was second in the hurdles with a career-best time of 8.78 with Jillian Gamache in sixth, Hannah Chapman was second in the triple jump with a school-record 35-6 with Catherine Haut fourth at 35-4. Chapman led four placers in the long jump, taking fourth at 16-5 and was followed by Haut, Gamache and Comeau and Abby Taylor was seventh in the high jump with a best-ever clear of 5-feet.

Relay takes third

Methuen’s 4x400 relay placed second at the East Coast Invitational in Providence. Willie Weinhold, Mike O’Donnell, John St. Hilaire and Ruddy Severino were clocked in 3:37.86, about two seconds behind Classical High School of Rhode Island.

Triple double-double

Notre Dame was all over the backboards in a 71-36 win over Innovation Charter. Cesar De Pena scored 12 points with 18 rebounds. Germaine Lebron added 12 points and 11 rebounds and L.J. Figueroa had a game-high 27 points with 10 boards for the winners.

Four score

Methuen’s Amanda Conway netted all four goals but the Ranger co-op hockey team with Tewksbury fell to Andover, 7-4. Freshman Meghan Rodriguez paced the Warriors with a pair of goals.
