Poggi leads local pack

Chris Poggi won the 300, a race which several locals placed.

Poggi ran it in 37.3 to lead Pinkerton boys track to a second-place team finish with 42 points in a 15-team New Hampshire meet yesterday.

Pinkerton’s Zach Cicio (37.7) came in second behind his teammate Poggi. Salem’s Jordan Bowman placed third (37.9). Londonderry’s David Sharkey came in fourth (38.90). Londonderry’s William Gu came in sixth (9.1). And Brandon O’Donnell of Timberlane finished eighth (39.4).

Londonderry wins big

Kristen Bourque won the 55 meter dash (7.5) and Amanda Szymanski won the 1,000 (3:06.8) to lead Londonderry girls track to a team victory at a 15-team New Hampshire meet yesterday.

Londonderry scored 69 points followed by Winnacunnet (56), Exeter (27) and Pinkerton (25).

School record

Pentucket’s Molly Smith, Rachel Perry, Chase Marcotte and Ali Attenasio took second place in the shuttle hurdle relay (31.52) at the Division 3 Relays while also breaking a school record that was set in 2001.

Staying perfect

North Reading boys basketball improved to 12-0 with an another strong effort from Tommy Hogan.

Morgan netted 14 points, including pouring in four 3-pointers. The Hornets had eight 3-pointers all together in their 69-41 non-conference win over Shawsheen.
