Assumption sweeps Merrimack

WORCESTER — First-place Assumption dumped Merrimack 70-50.

Freshman Gelvis Solano led the Warriors (8-12, 5-10 NE-10) with 17 points. Kevin Regan grabbed eight rebounds. For Assumption (15-4, 12-3 NE-10), Terrance Bobb-Jones scored a game-high 16 points off the bench. Jimmy Zenevitch of Methuen scored two points in 12 minutes for the Greyhounds.

Merrimack hosts Bentley Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The women will take on the second-ranked Falcons at 5:30 p.m.

Weissman leads Warriors

WORCESTER — The Merrimack women’s basketball team fell to Assumption 86-62.

Merrimack (11-8, 7-8 NE-10) was led by freshman Ashley Weissmann with 12 points. Chloe Rothman added nine points, Allison Wagner eight and Jaclyn Lyons and Melissa Miller seven apiece.

Gabrielle Gibson scored 21 points for the Greyhounds (14-5, 11-4 NE-10).

Davis shines in defeat

FRAMINGHAM — Mass. Bay beat Northern Essex 75-66. Kyle Davis of Haverhill led the 9-14 Knights with 23 points and nine rebounds. Ryan Freeman of Methuen added 10 points. Matt Sifferlen of North Andover dished out five points and Will Angelini from Pentucket grabbed 10 rebounds.
