Andover gymnasts win nailbiter

Despite the efforts of all-around winner Nicole Stevens of North Andover, Andover won a thriller in gymnastics, 141.9-141.3, with Jessie Livingstion and Courtney Carver taking second and third in the final event, the beam, to secure the victory.

Carver also won the vault and Livingston tied a season-higgh in the beam with a runner-up score of 9.6.

“It was a great, intense meet,” said Andover coach Kristen Vadala. whose team ends the regular season at 9-1.

Stevens was the all-around winner, with what is thought to be a school record score of 38.3, as well as a 9.7 winning score in the beam while also winning the bars (9.75) and floor.

Both teams will compete in the MVC meet Saturday at Dracut.

Baldwin keys Andover

Bill Baldwin finished seventh overall to lead the Andover boys ski team over Austin Prep in the last regular meet of the season. In the final regular season standings, Andover finished third behind unbeaten St. John’s Prep and Masconomet.

Bradley fuels surge

Scott Bradley scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the second quarter as Pinkerton pulled away from Manchester West on its way to a 63-49 victory. Bradley also had eight rebounds as he and Cam Welch controlled the boards and Luke Testa added 20 points.
