Michael Skarbelis erupted for three goals and two assists as North Andover walloped Lowell, 7-1, in the first game under new head coach Kyle Wood. Andrew Valdez added two goals.

Easy opener

Rachel Vafides had two goals and Danielle Fischer had a goal and two assists as Windham soccer opened with a laugher, a 9-0 win over West.

Travaglini stars

Kelsey Collins and Allie Sirmaian helped keep the offense clicking as Salem field hockey topped Nashua North 3-0. Amanda Travaglini had a goal and an assist.

Roche’s first

Weezie Gross, Jackie Leone and Mikayla Panneton dominated the midfield and sophomore Victoria Roche scored her first varsity goal as Andover field hockey blanked Danvers, 5-0.

Dynasty prevails

Barnstable volleyball has won 15 state titles in the previous 20 seasons. Central Catholic knew well what it was getting into, having fallen to the Red Raiders in the 2011 title match. In season-opening action yesterday on the Cape, the Red Raiders tripped up the Raiders 3-0. Playing well in defeat were Victoria Nassar and Olivia Imprescia.

Day of the Parrott

David Parrott scored with 15 minutes and eight minutes left as Pinkerton beat Memorial 2-0.

Dazzling debut

Lisa Rasanen has enjoyed tremendous success as a player and as an assistant coach and it looks like it will carry over to head coaching duties. In her debut, she guided North Andover girls soccer to a 3-0 win over Lowell. Stephanie Stabile, Megan McCann and Leah Chittick scored.
