Senior Chris Chee came off the bench to score his first two varsity goals as North Reading blanked Manchester Essex in boys soccer, 2-0. Juniors Zach Herman and Greg Landry stood out on defense for the Hornets (3-4).
Merry Eagan had 19 service points, including six aces, as North Andover remained unbeaten in volleyball, sweeping Haverhill in straight games. Abigail Sonugu had 12 kills for the Hillies.
Kim in charge
Soojin Kim scored victories in the 50 freestyle (27.04) and 100 freestyle (57.19) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay as Andover bested Belmont 101-84.
Gilmore streaks on
Haverhill senior Riley Gilmore placed first for the third straight race, running 19:56 on the 3-mile course at the Lawrence reservoir, but the Hillies settled for a split, defeating Central Catholic but losing to Billerica.
Doing it all
Logan Sherwood made three saves as the starter in net and then moved to the field and scored a goal to help Pentucket dispatch of Amesbury 6-0.
Red hot Reggie
Taylor Schmitz scored her seventh goal in her last three contests as Greater Lawrence stretched its winning streak to three straight with a 1-0 win over Innovation Academy.
Greater Lawrence’s girls defeated Chelsea in cross country for the first time, 25-32. Carmen Rivera led the way, finishing third. The Reggies also won the boys meet 23-33 led by Miguel Cumba, who placed first for the first time.
Bella Papapetros had a goal and two assists as Brooks blanked St. Mar’s 3-0 in girls soccer.
