DOG MAN IN THE HOUSE

Del “Dog Man” Christman, the well-known Lowell Spinners clubhouse manager, was at Game 2 of the Rays and Red Sox’ American League Division Series at Fenway Park on Saturday.

He was wearing a helmet similar to the one Jonny Gomes wore when celebrating Boston clinching the American League East Division title.

Dog Man’s helmet read, “Gomes Army.”

VONLEH LOOKING STRONG

ESPN Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman tweeted from Indiana University’s basketball practice yesterday: “Noah Vonleh (ankle) doing most everything in practice. NBA scout in attendance blown away by his NBA-ready body. 6-9 1/2, 235 pounds.

The Haverhill resident hurt his ankle during last Wednesday’s practice. He is a freshman at Indiana.

FUN AT FENWAY

The Red Sox crowd was really rowdy for the first two games of the Red Sox’ American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa 22-year-old rookie right fielder Wil Myers again heard his name chanted during Game 2. His defensive miscue in the fourth inning of Game 1 opened the gates for the Boston Red Sox to score five times that inning.

Myers tweeted yesterday: “Back in Tampa. Need 2 more Ws so we can ship back up to Boston and hear Myyyerrrrsss again!”

Also, there was a great sign by a Red Sox fan, which stated “The Price is Wrong,” as a way of showing his support for the Boston Red Sox offense to beat Rays ace and 2012 AL Cy Young winner David Price. The Red Sox scored seven times off Price. All the runs were earned.

WELKER WINS AGAIN

Wes Welker and the Denver Broncos improved to 5-0 yesterday with a 51-48 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Welker made five catches for 49 years for a 9.8 yard average and one touchdown.

The former Patriot now has caught 31 passes for 315 yards and seven touchdowns in five games.
