Jillian Boyle had 18 service points, including five aces, and had 28 digs as North Andover (16-1) tripped up talented Lynnfield, 3-1, for the second time this season.

Freshman trick

Freshman Kat Hassapis had a hat trick and added an assist as the North Reading girls soccer team (7-4-5) whipped Saugus 5-0 to move to within one point of making the state tournament.

Senior highlights

On Senior Night, three Haverhill seniors scored in a 5-0 girls soccer victory over Somerville giving the Hillies (10-1-4) their first double digit win total in five years. Among the non-seniors, freshman Maddie Buco scored her first goal.

Owls host Lancers

Two local teams will square off today when the New Hampshire Division 1 field hockey tournament gets underway as No. 5 Timberlane hosts Londonderry at 3 p.m. Top-seed Pinkerton and No. 3-seed Salem received byes and will play Friday.

First ever?

Greater Lawrence’s girls cross country team defeated Lawrence for the first time in at least 20 years, and perhaps ever, 21-40. Lawrence’s Leanna Pham took first and set the school record for career first places, but the Reggies took the next four places, paced by runner-up Carmen Rivera.

19 times two

Christina Nye and sophomore Jessica Buckley both had 19 kills as Timberlane clipped Concord 3-1 in volleyball to improve to 10-6. Nye also was hot with her serve, collecting 20 points.

Zingales shines

Methuen field hockey goalie Juliana Zingales had 20 saves and held league champ Chelmsford scoreless at halftime before the Lions eventually prevailed, 3-0. Annie Sears returned from an injury and also played well, at sweeper.

Lots of Lesch

Senior captain Hanna Lesch led North Reading in kills, service points and digs to lead the Hornets past Greater Lawrence 3-1.
