If opponents expect all-conference midfielder Nicolette Pelrine to wear down on the soccer pitch, they will be sadly disappointed.
The Central Catholic senior three-sport captain is also a record-breaking distance runner with personal bests of 5:17.6 in the mile and 11:27.63 in the two-mile. The Methuenite is also a student ambassador and a peer leader at school.
Pelrine took time out to discuss being a twin, her burning desire to make the varsity and her passion for the TV show Full House in this week's Around the Horn.
Did you do anything fun this summer? "I played soccer a lot. We went to Aruba. It was really nice. It was very relaxing.''
Do you work? "I had a babysitting job. I love kids.''
You have a new coach in Casey Grange, is that a tough transition? "It was at first but they are both very good coaches."
Do you have any college plans? "Bates is one of them. I went to URI, Providence and I looked at UNH. I'd love to do one or the other or both sports.''
What do you like better, soccer or track? "I couldn't really choose."
You must be pretty proud being a three-sport captain? "It's really nice. I was really happy."
What's your favorite athletic achievement? "For soccer I didn't make varsity freshman year. The next year I was really motivated and I started. This past year I broke a lot of school records in track.''
Individually, what goals do you have? "Win the MVC title again in soccer. In track I'd like to PR, I'd like to run 11:15 or 11:20 in the two-mile and in the mile under 5:10."
Are you and your twin brother, Nick, close? "We are really close. I go to all the hockey games. They are so much fun. Freshman year we pushed each other to be better and make varsity. We always challenge each other to do our best."
What is the most embarrassing song you have in your iPod? "Bennie and The Jets by Elton John.''
Who is your dream date? "Probably Tom Cruise.''
Best advice you ever received? "Probably from my parents, to be yourself.''
What is the most recent song you've downloaded? "Brad Paisley, a country song, She's Everything.''
Obama fan or critic? "I like him.''
What's the biggest challenge facing teenagers today? "Peer pressure from friends.''
If you were named principal, what's the first thing you'd do? "No shoe requirement.''
What shoes would you wear? "I'd wear sneakers."

Favorite actor/actress, movie, TV show? "Tom Cruise, She's the Man and Full House, I've watched that since I was so little.''
