3-on-3 hoops tourney draws North Andover crowd

Nearly 60 teams from around the region drove the lane during the Merrimack Valley YMCA's 16th annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament.
Two hundred youths braved humid weather and temperatures around 90 degrees to play at the tourney at North Andover Youth Center. Games were played on both the indoor and outdoor basketball courts from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., according to Elizabeth Covino, director of YMCA marketing and public relations.....more>>

Re-enter the dragon: Student painters bring playground back to roaring life

This summer, children who visit Ackerman Playground can meet Barty the Dragon. If they're brave enough, they can even take a trip through his gaping jaws, past his menacing fangs, down the slide.
Barty is just one of the fairy-tale paintings that decorate Ackerman Playground, thanks to five teenage interns from Masconomet High School, who recently spent five weeks repainting the playground. more>>
