Jennifer Murphy, 27, of Woburn was arrested by Lawrence police this morning as she tried to buy drugs at Lowell and Elizabeth streets, about 10 a.m.

Murphy was arrested minutes after she beat and robbed a 59-year-old woman of her purse in front of a grocery store at 186 Haverhill St., in Methuen. Acting on a hunch, police went to the area, and located the stolen car Murphy was driving. She was arrested at gunpoint by Det. Sgt. Michael Simard. The woman's purse was found in the car.

Murphy now faces criminal charges in Lawrence and Methuen.
