LAWRENCE — Edith Florence (Entwistle) Broscoe, 86, of Lawrence, died Sunday morning, March 7, 2010 at the Mary Immaculate Health Care Center, Lawrence.
Born Dec. 7, 1923, in Tewksbury, she was the daughter of the late Ralph F. and Mildred (Brown) Entwistle. She was raised in Lowell for four years with her parents. She then moved to West Andover and was raised by her grandparents, John Henry and Emma (Schoolcraft) Entwistle, on their vegetable farm. She was educated in Andover schools and was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover.
During World War II, she was employed at Tyre Rubber Company in Andover. After her marriage to her husband, Guido, she raised her family. After raising her family, she was employed at Mary Immaculate in the dining room as an attendant with Sister Lillian for over 20 years, until her retirement. She resided in Lawrence for over 50 years. She attended Holy Rosary Church-Corpus Christi Parish. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 67 of Lawrence. She enjoyed crocheting and dancing, along with theater and movies. She was a devoted mother and extended mother to many nieces, nephews and friends. For the last 12 years, she was a daily attendant of Mary Immaculate Adult Day Care. She was lovingly known to all as "Auntie Edie." She will be missed by her son, Ralphie.
The wife of the late Guido James Broscoe, with whom she shared 25 years of marriage until his death in 1972, she is survived by her son, Ralph F. (Ralphie) Brosco, with whom she shared a home on Kendrick Street, Lawrence; a daughter, Patricia A. (Broscoe) Stella and her husband Gary Thomas Stella of Lawrence; her grandson, Christopher Thomas Stella of Lawrence; her loving in-laws, Francisco and Rose (Brosco) Benenati of Salem, N.H.; and her dozen loving and caring nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late infant Joyce Marie, who died in 1946 at the age of eight months. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents and her only brother, Ernest Raymond Entwistle, who died in 1956.
ARRANGEMENTS: A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated, Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church-Corpus Christi Parish, Essex Street, Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Boles Memorial-Baron-McAuliffe-Yameen Funeral Home, 184 Jackson St., Lawrence (978-686-0386).
