HAVERHILL — Josephine J. (LoBue) Driscoll passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Mass General Hospital in Boston. She was 90 years of age, a lifelong resident of Haverhill/Bradford, and the widow of William J. Driscoll. She was the youngest daughter of Gaetano and Grace (Fazio) LoBue.
She grew up in the River Street neighborhood of Haverhill, attended Moody School, and was a graduate of the Haverhill High School, Class of 1938, and a member of Saint Rita's parish. She worked as a waitress at the Bella Vista Restaurant and the Whittier, among other jobs, before marrying and moving to Bradford where she raised a family and was an active member of Sacred Hearts Parish and the Catholic Daughters of America for more than 40 years. Mrs. Driscoll enjoyed baking, excursions to the seacoast, "armchair" traveling, and was an active churchgoer. She enjoyed residing and making new friends at the Merrivista Senior Residence for the past six years.
Mrs. Driscoll is survived by two sons, Joseph Driscoll of Norwood and Robert Driscoll of San Francisco; four grandchildren, Matthew Driscoll of Big Sky, Mont., Andrew Driscoll of Burlington, Vt., and Hannah Driscoll and Adam Driscoll of Norwood; a brother, William LoBue of Worcester; nieces, Carol Drago of Salem, N.H. and Judy Driscoll of Haverhill; nephews, William Zaleskas of Lighthouse Point, Fla., Michael LoBue of Davie, Fla., John LoBue of Brookline, and Michael Driscoll of Haverhill; and many friends. Mrs. Driscoll is predeceased by her brother, Edward LoBue and sisters, Frances LoBue and Edna (LoBue) Zaleskas.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Liturgy on Thursday, April 1 at 11 at Sacred Hearts Church, South Main Street, Bradford. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the services on Thursday from 9 to 10:30 at the H.L.
