SALISBURY — Mary P. (Greaney) Shaw, age 81, longtime Salisbury resident, died Saturday evening, March 6, 2010 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Jesse W. Shaw.

Born in Newburyport, Feb. 21, 1929, she was the daughter of the late J. Leo and Mary A. (Brennan) Greaney and was a graduate of Amesbury High School, Class of 1946 and Fisher Junior College.

Mrs. Shaw was a faithful communicant of the Star of the Sea Parish in Salisbury, where she was a member of the church's Women's Altar Society. Mrs. Shaw cherished her Irish heritage, making several trips to Ireland, and was a longtime member and officer of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Women's Auxiliary. She was also an active member of several community organizations, including Friends of the Salisbury Public Library, Salisbury Historical Society, and Whittier Home Association.

She enjoyed travels with her family and winters in the Florida Keys.

Her survivors include a daughter, Kathleen M. Shaw and husband Steven Campbell of Newburyport; two sons, David L. Shaw and wife Deann of Amesbury and James M. Shaw and wife Kristin White of Lynnfield; six grandchildren, Jesse, Lucas, Alicia, Brian, Leah and Quinn; a sister, Margaret Irving and husband Robert of Cheshire, Connecticut ; two sisters-in-law, Betty Greaney of Medford, N.J. and Vero Beach, Fla., and Boo Greaney of Montreal, PQ, Canada; along with several generations of nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Visiting hours at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Ave., Amesbury, will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Star of the Sea Church, Beach Road, Salisbury, followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Amesbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Pettengill House, 13 Lafayette Road, Salisbury, MA 01952 or to the Friends of the Salisbury Public Library, 17 Elm St., Salisbury, MA 01952.
